Kevin has been painting Rick and Lori's dining room all day today. He started yesterday by painting the primer, now he's doing second coats. Tomorrow he and my grandfather will be finishing it, putting up wainscoting and trim. I worked on the photos I took at the reunion today, did some laundry, ran some errands with Lori, and helped KT make a bracelet. It was a lazy day for me. :) We have been eating sooo good while staying with Rick and Lori. She makes some yummy meals. Last night we had salmon cooked on cedar planks on the grill with cabbage and stewed tomatoes, homemade biscuits. Tonight it was turkey breast cutlets with corn on the cob, baked beans, and fresh veggies. For dessert we had homemade angel food cake with raspberries and cream. We are certainly blessed.

I really enjoy being with my family and I think Kevin does also. I'll make him get on here soon and give his point of view. Last night he went fishing in the creek with Rick, Max and KT. They found a HUGE snapping turtle on the bank of the creek. I took some pictures, but with the 35mm, so we'll have to get developed and online sometime.

Thursday we went to the Mraz show and it was one of the best I've seen. The Grooveline horns were amazing and Kevin was really impressed.
Friday and Saturday we had our garage sale, we barely sold anything, but we made a little money. Saturday night I took the photos at the reunion while Kevin went to a block party next door to watch some live music and drink cheap beer. :)

We have decided that we are going to stay in Indiana longer than we previously planned. We will probably be here through the weekend, maybe part of next week. I bought my backpack today online and I am really excited about it! It was a really good deal and the material is made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. I can't wait to get it.

home...at least for awhile

We successfully made it to Noblesville, IN where my grandparents and Vivian the boxer live. We unloaded all of our things into the garage last night and went to sleep fairly early. Today we have to get everything prepared for a garage sale we are having tomorrow and Saturday.
This afternoon my friend Cat is flying in from New York and Rikki is coming from Chicago along with some others. They're coming over for dinner before we all go to the Mraz show here in Indy. It's kind of hard to believe we're going to a Mraz show tonight. It will be Kevin's first Mraz show, so that's exciting. I can't wait for him to see the Grooveline Horns perform.
Saturday night we will be going to my Aunt and Uncle's in Muncie, IN to stay with them for a few days. I got hired to take photo's at Aunt Lori's 20th high school reunion on Saturday night and we will be working on the farm for them to make some extra money. It will be nice to see the kids.
Ok, I am going to eat some breakfast and get busy.

Packing and preparing

Kevin and I have both been busy today doing laundry and beginning the packing process. We kind of had a freak out moment today when Kevin said "We only have two days left to do this!" Because we are going to the Peace Festival in Lacota, MI this weekend, we don't have much time to get everything done before we leave. My mother is coming to Ann Arbor on Tuesday morning next week to pick us and all of our things up and take them to Indiana. 

We are going to be staying with my family for a week or two in Indiana before we head out on our pilgrimage. 

Wikipedia says: In religion and spirituality, a pilgrimage is a long journey or search of great moral significance. Sometimes, it is a journey to a sacred place or shrine of importance to a person's beliefs and faith. 

We both dream of a country and world where people are loving and kind to all they come in contact with. We are hoping by extending our kindness and gratitude to everyone we cross paths with, that kindness with be karmically returned to us as we backpack across the country. 

Interesting fact number one about Kevin and Tab: Before we met we were both planning on going to California individually and for our own personal reasons. We both felt that it's where God wanted us to be and have always felt a spiritual connection with California. Kevin will be going to Sebastopol, which is an hour north of San Francisco. He will be living in a co-op artists' community. I will be going to Los Angeles to study music engineering for a year at the Los Angeles Recording School. We decided that making the journey out together would be an amazing experience.
